The Whale caught in a folkdance from his Nova Scotian past.

Since its first days, TECHNOBEAT has been intermittantly invaded by an annoying entity called the Whale, an ex-Halifax-based folk singer and professional wrestling medal-holder on the Wawa-Thunder Bay-International Falls circuit.

Despite his starring roll in only six Technobeat columns since 1991 and mentions in perhaps as many others, the Whale has raised public ire like no other columnist, contributor, or partially-made-up entity in The Beat.

Beat-reader dissatisfaction with the Whale after his Bill Holm-persona guest edited Dave Hucker's "Hey Mr. Music" column reached such a pitch that Beat editor CC Smith requested he take a long leave from Technobeat.

For the moment, THE JIG IS UP for the Whale, but his legacy lives on...
